April 29, 1942 ? June 9, 2018
Don Bassett died Saturday, June 9, 2018, of natural causes after a long illness. Don was born in Wenatchee, Wash., April 29, 1942 to Jack and Verna Bassett. Wenatchee was always a very special place for Donnie, and he treasured the many lifelong friendships that he made there. He attended college at the University of Oregon in 1960, where he soon became a lifelong Duck fan?loving all sports, but especially Duck football. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish with his many friends. Don married Kay Franklin in 1966 and a new life of adventures began. They had their first daughter, Kari, and then moved to Portland in 1969 where they had their second daughter, Brooke. In 1975 they moved to Lake Oswego where he spent the remainder of his life. The girls brought so much happiness into their lives, followed by a much loved son-in-law, Joe and their grandchildren, Payton and Joey. Don started working for Georgia Pacific after college and in 1985 he started his own company, Bassett Packaging Sales. Donnie will be forever remembered for his kindness, sense of adventure, great humor and of course his happy greeting, "Hi Ya!" Always there for his friends and his dear family, he was truly loved by all whose lives he touched. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Kay; daughters, Kari and Brooke Moffenbeier (Joe); grandchildren, Payton and Joey; and brother, Terry Bassett. Contributions in honor of Don would be a loving gift to your favorite charity.
