Richard Bassett Jansen (Picture included)
Richard Bassett Jansen was born on February 6, 1947, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 17, 2013. Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Louise Bassett, Walter K. and Ann Jansen, and his parents Jarol and Barbara Jansen. He is survived by: his devoted wife Phillis, his loving daughter Leigh Jansen, his stepchildren Scott Silva and Dana Oliveira, his niece Kate Jansen, and his sister Elizabeth Jansen. Richard was the fourth generation from Lincoln, and leaves so many friends and family that shared and shaped his life. He loved many deeply, but no one more then John, Pattie, and Julie Tofft.
His cousins have always unanimously and profoundly proclaimed him the funniest one at the kids table. His sense of humor was forever intact.
Richard graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964, attended Cabrillo and Sierra College. He served his country in the United States Air Force, spending time in Vietnam, before returning home to work in the family business with his grandfather and father.
Richard loved to hunt and fish. He loved cars and car racing. He loved his family, and the place that he held dearest was the family cabin at Rainbow which his grandfather built in 1935; the time he spent there, and the memories he made with friends always filled him with laughter and love.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.at the Pavilions at McBean Park in Lincoln, California.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ellie Wiswell Fund, Sportman's Legacy Foundation, a charity of your choice, or just hold your family closer.
