Engagement Is Revealed
From Sacramento comes the announcement of the engagement of Miss Mildred Bassett to Mr. Emmet James Seawell of Piedmont and San Francisco. It was revealed at a dinner party given at the home of the bride-elect?s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Coombs Bassett in the Capital city on Tuesday evening. When the 26 guests were seated they discovered a gardenia at each place attached to which was the betrothal card.
Miss Bassett is the granddaughter of Mrs. Annie James, member of a pioneer California family, and a niece of Mr. William D. James of Sacramento. She has a brother, Brandon, and sister, Barbara, who are students at Stanford University. Pomona College is her alma mater
Mr. Seawell is the son of the late Justice Emmet Seawell and Mrs. Seawell of Piedmont, and a brother of Mrs. Reginal Farran of Piedmont. He is a graduate of the University of California and Boalt Hall, and a member of Zeta Psi Fraternity and Phi Delta Phi, legal fraternity. He is a member of Claremont Country Club and the Sutter Club in Sacramento. He is assistant United States attorney in San Francisco.
No date has been set for the wedding but it possibly will be a December event.
