Mrs. W.J. Bassett Dies in California
Mrs. Marie (Wilson) Bassett, 95, of San Bruno, Calif., formerly of Springfield, widow of William J. Bassett, and a charter member of the Springfield Golden Age Club, died Jan. 4, in Bayview Hospital, Burlingame, Calif.
Mrs. Bassett was a retired clerk at the former Forbes and Wallace and at the Potter Knit Store for many years.
Born in Pittsfield, Vt., she lived in Springfield 50 years before moving to California 23 years ago.
She leaves a son, Richard and a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Louise Sherwood, both of Millbrae, Calif.
The funeral was Jan. 7, at the Chapel of the Highlands in Millbrae with burial in Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Colma, Calif. Donations may be made to Shriners? Hospital for Crippled Children, Springfield.
