SHIPSHEWANA ? James K. Miller, 87, of Shipshewana, died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Goshen Health Hospital.
He was born on September 8, 1930, in LaGrange County to the late Orva J. and Sarah Ellen (Troyer) Miller.
He was a life time farmer and lived his whole life on the family farm in LaGrange County. He was a 1950 graduate of Shipshewana High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Jim was a member of the Scott United Methodist Church and attended Shore Church. He was a long-time board member of Miller Cemetery Association (7-mile curve), and an avid bowler. He enjoyed playing games and spending time with his family and friends.
He married Charlotte J. Bassett on April 12, 1958, in Scott. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1998.
Jim re-married on February 19, 2000, to Shirley (Yoder) Hochstetler in Scott. Shirley survives in Shipshewana.
Also surviving are three daughters; Beth (Craig) Helman of Topeka, Jean (Robert) Dickens of Whitesville, KY, Joy (Curt) Crago of Markle, a son, Neil (Jasmina) Miller of Wolcottville, two step-daughters; Cheryl (Ken) Marks of Middlebury, Carla (Kent) Mishler of Howe, three step-sons; Brent (Angie) Hochstetler of Orland, Brian (Brenda) Hochstetler of Anderson, and Brad (Julie) Hochstetler of Middlebury, eleven grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren, one sister, Marilyn Frain and a brother, Alfred (Rosie) Miller all of Shipshewana.
A sister, Romaine Hostetler, four brothers; Richard Miller, Samuel Miller, Paul Miller and Larry Miller all proceeded Jim in death.
Funeral Services will be held at Shore Church on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. The Rev. Carl Horner will officiate.
Burial will take place in Miller Cemetery (7 Mile Curve), Shipshewana.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the Shore Church.
Memorials may be donated in Jim's memory to the Miller Cemetery Association.
