Class of 1941
Samuel F. Bassett, of Whiting, New Jersey, died June 4. Dr. Bassett earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart in World War II, and returned to open his own practice in his home. He then joined Prudential Insurance Company, eventually becoming medical director for the Central Atlantic region before retiring in his early 60's. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea, three daughters, and six grandchildren.

Samuel F. Bassett
On June 4, 2006, Dr. Samuel F. Bassett, 90, beloved husband of Dorothea Bassett (nee Schroeder) for 63 years. He is also survived by daughters, Elizabeth E. McHenry, Jayne P. Prin and her husband Michael, Marianne DeChristopher and her husband Joseph and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Susan Anne Bassett; two sisters and a brother. Family will receive friends on Tuesday (today) June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sterling-Ashton-Schwabb-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 7 at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel, Charlestown, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, at 11 a.m. with viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be to: Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, Maryland 21093.
