The Hastings Banner, September 26, 2011 Douglas Alden Bassett Jr. (Picture included) Nashville Douglas Alden Bassett Jr., age 28, of Nashville, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was born in Hastings, Michigan on October 1, 1982 to Douglas Alden Bassett Sr. and Betty Ann (Cross) Bassett. Doug was a logger and worked hard at his own business, Bassett Logging. He was a loving father and loving fiancée. He enjoyed auction sales and collecting chain saws. Doug is survived by his parents of Hastings, his fiancée, Shandy Lynn Kloth and his son Douglas Alden Bassett III of Nashville Michigan, his sister, Jennifer Marie Bassett of Delton, Michigan, his paternal Grandmother, Ellen Marie Bassett of Nashville, Michigan, his maternal Grandmother, Linda Bristol of Middleville, Michigan and a maternal great grandmother, Kathryn Bristol of Nashville, Michigan, two special Uncles, Mike Cross of Hastings, Michigan and Dennis Bassett of Hastings, Michigan and two Aunts, Dawn Ambrose of Ludington, Michigan and Sue Davis of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Doug was preceded in death by his Grandfather Richard J. Bassett in 1998. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 24, 2011 at the Thornapple Valley Church, 2750 South M43 Highway, Hastings, Michigan, 49058 with Rev. Edwin Ford officiating. Immediately following the service everyone is invited to stay for a special luncheon in honor of Doug. Memorials may be directed to his son Douglas A. Bassett III for his college education.
