Wilma A. Bassett, 85, of Greeley, CO, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at
Life Care Center of Greeley.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Farr
Chapel, First Congregational Church, Greeley. Interment will be 11:30 a.m.,
Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
Wilma was born July 8, 1919 in Fairfield, Missouri to Horace and Docia (Iams)
McKinzie. She married Peter A. Bassett on August 15, 1940 in Denver, Colorado,
and he died on December 16, 1977.
She was born in Fairfield, Missouri and graduated from high school in Warsaw,
Missouri. Her family then moved to Colorado in the 1930's. She worked as a
waitress at Bauer's in downtown Denver, the Daniels and Fischer Tea Room and
later at the Holiday Inn North and retired in 1985.
She had moved with her family to Seattle, Washington; Spring Hill, Florida,
and Springfield, Missouri before returning to Colorado in December 200
Wilma was a member of Eastern Star Unity Chapter #97 in Denver and al
Christian Scientist. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, cards and friends. At the age
of 83, she bowled a 193 and was active in senior bowling leagues.
Surviving Wilma are her son, Robert Bassett and wife, Diane, of Greeley, CO,
daughter, Carolyn and husband, Jim Forbis of Lakenheath, England, siste
Dorothy McCraken; grandchildren, Daniel Bassett and Mark and Michael Forbis
and two great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, and two brothers preceded her in death.
