Fred Hope Bass
Fred Hope Bass, age 87, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and formerly of Corbin, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Briarcliff Health Care Center.
He was born June 30, 1924, in Blackie, the son of John A. and Velma Brady Bass.
Mr. Bass served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the CBI theater. He was owner of the Fad Pool Room on Main Street in Corbin, and ran the pool room for over 40 years until his health gave out. He and his wife moved to Oak Ridge to be with their daughter, Sharon Muncy. He was an active member of Emmanuelle Baptist Church of Corbin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, John Bass.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lorene Taylor Bass; daughters, Sharon Muncy and husband Tom and Leesa and husband Craig Gaffin; sister, Joyce Singleton, two grandsons; two great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Bass will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Corbin. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge, TN is in charge of the arrangements.
