Daisy Nell Stephens, age 86 of Cole, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021. Daisy was born January 25, 1935 in Okla. City, OK, the only child born to Leonard Curtis Bearden and Mary Jay (Bassett) Bearden. Daisy was raised on the family home place near Criner, and attended school in Washington, graduating with the Warrior Class of 1953. Daisy married Hollis Atkinson and to this union, three children, daughter Holly and sons, Tobey and Tolar were born. Daisy first worked in Okla. City at a finance company. She would tell you that her greatest joy was her family, and she was happiest when they were all together. She worked tirelessly as a homemaker, caring and providing for her children and grandchildren. On August 1, 1985, she married her longtime friend, Gib Stephens, and by 1990, they had settled in the Cole area. Daisy loved helping Gib on the farm, helping wherever she could. They enjoyed traveling together, and taking bus tours, and she was so excited to be able to take the majority of her family on an Alaskan Cruise a few years back. Daisy was an avid quilter and loved to needlepoint. She was a gifted musician, and could play multiple instruments, and she enjoyed playing the piano, the organ and the accordion for her church. Daisy was a bright soul, full of life, and when asked how she would like to be remembered, she said, ?a good friend, and one who could be trusted. She was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Holly Stokes and her parents, Leonard and Jay Bearden.
Daisy is survived by: her husband, Gib Stephens of the home; two sons, Tobey Atkinson of Purcell and Tolar Atkinson and wife Trina of Purcell; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Little?s Chapel, with burial to follow at the Hillside Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on our website, www.wilsonlittle.com and our Facebook page, Wilson Little.
