Patricia Bassett O'Neill, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home in East Granby Connecticut on January 6th, 2021 surrounded by family members. Patty leaves behind her husband, of 36 years, William O'Neill, Jr., stepson William O'Neill III and wife Jennifer, their children Jared and Logan, and her stepdaughter Carolyn O'Neill Bellody and husband Tom, their children Liliana, Jeffrey, Leah, and Kayla. Patty also leaves behind, but with so much love, her sister Margaret Roux and her husband Dennis, sister Nanette Bassett and her wife Leanne Gill and her brother William Bassett and wife Laurie. She also leaves her niece Emily Roux and her partner Eric Torres, great niece Bailey and great nephews Dominic and Matthew. Patty is predeceased by her loving parents, Henry and Lorraine (Dufresne) Bassett, her uncle Richard Dufresne and nephews Matthew and Glenn. Patty graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield Vermont and was a proud member of the class of 1968. She served her country by being a fingerprint reader for the FBI in Washington DC in the 60's and was a graduate of Dartmouth Vocational College. For over 40 years she worked as a medical assistant in Connecticut's Farmington Valley area where she was admired and loved by co-workers and patients, many of whom are close to this day. A graveside burial service will be held at St. Mary's cemetery in Springfield, VT at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Farmington Valley VNA Hospice, 80 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury CT 06070 or to the East Granby Public Library, 24 Center Street, East Granby, CT 06026. She was a lover of animals and donations may also be made to a No Kill Animal Shelter of your choice. Private funeral arrangements will be through Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, Connecticut, and graveside service arrangements will be handled by Davis Memorial Chapel of Springfield, Vermont.
