Lawrence B. Bassett
Lawrence B. Bassett of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 92.
Mr. Bassett was born in Birmingham, Michigan and moved to Gainesville from Deptford, New Jersey in 1970. He was a retired agricultural engineer for the United States government.
He was one of the founding members of Kanapaha Botanical Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Bassett.
Survivors include a son, Mark Bassett of Gainesville; daughters Carolyn Desmonie of St. Simons Island, Georgia; Linda Dukes of Denver and Elaine Albrecht of Houston; a brother, Allen Bassett of Detroit; a sister, Florence Wohlwill of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
