L.D. Bassett, of this city, is spending a few days with his son, Sergeant Melvin Bassett, a Tobbyhanna, near Scranton, where he is in the tank service as a quartermaster, though expecting to leave any day for Raleigh, N.C.

Notice is hereby given that letters testamentary upon the above named estate has been duly granted to the undersigned by the Register of Wills. All persons indebted to such estate should make immediate payment of me, and all persons having claims against same should present them to e, after having the same duly probated.

Esteemed Citizen Passed Away Early This Morning
Death this morning about four o?clock claimed Lee D. Bassett, one of Kane?s widely known and highly respected citizens, after an illness which has extended over the greater part of a year, compelling Mr. Bassett to take to his bed at intervals during the pas four months, until the past four weeks when he was confined to the house all of the time.
Mr. Bassett was born in Cory, August 10, 1860. He had been a resident of Kane for the past 40 years and entered the mercantile business 36 years ago, the same year in which he was married to Jennie M. Corson, who together with one son, Melvin Bassett of this city, survives to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Mr. Bassett?s business career was a long one and involved ventures as a grocer and florist until the present flourishing business in crockery and novelties was built up at 312 Chase street, which is also the residence of the deceased. Sincere sorrow is expressed at the loss of this good citizen and sympathy is extended to the bereaved widow and son.
The funeral services, which will be private, will be held at the late home on Friday afternoon at 2 o?clock, the Rev. O.T. Anderson officiating. Friends who wish to pay their respects may call Thursday afternoon from four to eight or during Friday forenoon.
