      Decoyl Bassett
      Graveside services for Decoyl Bassett will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2004 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claymore. Decoyl, 82, passed away October 19, 2004 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
      He was born February 7, 1922 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Auti Floyd and Ada Ethel (Randle) Bassett.
      Decoyl served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as Military Police. While in the service he learned mechanics, which later gave him the necessary training for his job in the aircraft industry. He helped to construct the first rocket to the moon and was Crew Chief for North American Rockwell.
      Decoyl was a quiet man who believed if you maintained a clear conscience you could live a good life. He was dedicated to fulfilling commitment. He was an avid reader and enjoyed bluegrass music. He was a good man, friend, father and grandfather.
      Decoyl was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bassett, and two grandchildren.
      Survivors are his children, James Bassett of Phoenix, Arizona; Edythe Kaye and David Payne of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Peggy and Wayne Yarnell of Ozark, Arkansas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
