Percy L. Bass
Percy Lee Bass, 65, of Richmond, formerly of Clinton, N. C., and Clarksville, died Thursday, April 17, 208 at Crump Manor Nursing Home, Richmond.
Mr. Bass was born in Mecklenburg County, Aug. 13, 1942 to the late Freddie and Enola Maline Fields Bass. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, and at an early age became a member of New Light Baptist Church, Skipwith. While living in Clinton, N. C., he was a member of Olivet Institute Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by three children, Donald Bass of Coeburn, Gay Cassandra Bass of Richmond, and Crystal Portillo (Ronnie) of Williamsburg; four step-children, Ellano Draughorn of Md., Elramos, Elliot and Elrose Draughorn, all of Clinton, N. C.; two grandchildren, Tiara Bass and Donald C. Bass Jr. both of Richmond; his mother, Enolia M. Bass of Bridgeport, Conn., four sisters, Tracey Smith, Barbara Bass and Mable Bass, all of Bridgeport, Conn., and Annette S. Durham (Michael) of Clarksville; two brothers, Ray Bass of Richmond, and Joe Bass of Dalton, Ga.; two aunts, Catherine Day of Clarksville, and Elizabeth Bunch of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bass and Ivy Bass both of Bridgeport, Conn.; a devoted friend, Minister Clara W. Bass of Clarksville, and a number of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 20, at New Light Baptist Church, Skipwith, with the Rev. Marvin Harris officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
