Nathaniel G.W. Bassett, 72, retired Roger Mills farmer, died at 4 o'clock Saturday at him home at Carpenter.
The aged man had been a resident of Roger Mills county for 37 years. He had been ill for a year.
Born in Arkansas February 10, 1861, Mr. Bassett lived some time in Texas and was married in that state to Miss Mary Anne Sullivan 51 years ago.
He held a life membership in the Masonic order.
Beside his widow, he is survived by four children: Nathaniel Bassett, Jr., Earlimart, Calif., George Basestt, Corcorn, Calif., James Ira Bassett, Oklahoma City and Mrs. Arthur Richmond, Elk City.

Nathan G.W. Bassett was born Feb. 10, 1861 in Fayette, Ark., and departed this life Dec. 16, 1933, at 4 o'clock p.m. at Carpenter, Oklahoma.
At four years of age he moved with his parents to Parker county, Texas, and settled near Weatherford.
He was married to Miss Mary Ann Sullivan at the age of 21. To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Richmond, of Elk City; and four sons, Ira Bassett of Oklahoma City; George C. of Cororna, Calif., and Nathan of Earlimont, California and Corbett who preceded his father in death in 1913.
Brother Bassett moved to Oklahoma in 1897 and settled in Carpenter neighborhood.
He was converted in 1898, became a member of the Baptist church of which he was ordained deacon and for 35 years was a faithful and true Christian. Brother Bassett was an active member of the Masonic lodge and was greatly esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his deaprture his faithful wife, one daughter and three sons, seven grand-children and a host of friends and neighbors.
