Sherman Strawser
SHERMAN STRAWSER, 84, died on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville. Born Dec. 23, 1926, in Salem Center, he was the son of the late Carl D. and Imogene M. (Bassett) Strawser. He was a World War II Army veteran and known by many as "The Pup". Sherm and his brother, Forest, began Strawser Brothers Construction in 1952 in Kendallville where he remained active in the construction business until 2008. The Strawser Brothers will long be remembered in the area for contracting and construction. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Strawser of Kendallville; daughters, Cindy (Mike) Smith and Diane Liebing, both of Kendallville; son, Greg Strawser of Kendallville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carol Helmer of LaGrange and Naomi (Don) Moore of Kokomo. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at South Milford Church of Christ. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main, Kendallville. Burial in South Milford Cemetery. Preferred memorials may be made to South Milford Church of Christ.
