Eleanore Bassett
Services were held Oct. 20 at Azalea Trace in Pensacola, Fla., for Eleanore Sage Bassett, who died Oct. 18 of heart attack at Azalea Trace, after a brief illness. She was 94.
Mrs. Bassett was born April 13, 1901, in Johnstown, Pa.
She was the widow of Ret. Navy Rear Adm. Melvin Hughes Bassett who died in 1981.
A former longtime resident of Annapolis, she moved to Pensacola in 1984.
Her memberships included the Daughters of American Revolution, Annapolis Yacht Club, Naval Academy Alumni Association and Holy Cross Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Pels of Austin, Texas; two sons, Melvin Sage Bassett of Manhasset, N.Y., and Frank Eugene Bassett of Pensacola; a sister, Winifred Browne of San Marcos, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Graveside services will be at noon Tuesday at the Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glaucoma Research Foundation, 490 Post St., Suite 830, San Francisco, CA 94102.
Arrangements were by HarperMorris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola and John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis.
