James Elder Bassett
James Elder Bassett, 78, a resident of Marseilles, Illinois, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Marseilles, Illinois.
He was born Dec. 23, 1925, the son of Leo M. and Edith Hazel O'Dell Bassett, in Braymer, Missouri.
Mr. Bassett served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Survivors include a son, James Bassett, Lonoke, Ark.; two daughters, Charley Storey, Marseilles, Ill., and Patti Storey, Bristol, Ill,; two sisters, Lola Evans and Wanda Gilgour; a brother, Larry "Buck" Bassett, all of Breckenridge, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian; a daughter, Jenny Olson, his parents; his second wife, Helen; and four sisters.
Military graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge, Mo. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge, Mo.
A visitation will be held from 6:30 untl 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Mo.
Calling hours will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Mo.
