Mildred Bass
Graveside service for Mildred McCormick Bass, will be held Wednesday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at Stone Mountain City Cemetery, conducted by Fr. P. Douglas Coil of Saint Mathews Episcopal Church. Mrs. Bass, age 86 died February 28th in Columbia, SC. Born November 5, 1918 in Cordele, GA. she was the daughter of Mattie and J.H. McCormick of Fitzgerald, GA. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Martha Bass White of Columbia, SC; granddaughter Kim E. Waitz and great granddaughter Alexandra Walls of Grayson, GA; granddaughter Holly White Lever and great grandchildren Cory and Mckenzie Lever of Columbia, SC; grandson, Charles E. White and great granddaughter, Darby Lynn White of Greenville, SC. She is predeceased by husband Edwin H. Bass and daughter Shirley Bass Bishopp. After graduating from then Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA., Mrs. Bass was employed by Rich's Dept. Store to handle the selling of war bonds during WWII. A long time resident of Sylvania, GA., Mrs. Bass and her husband were previously owners of the local radio station WSYL. She was an accomplished golfer and won many regional tournaments. Mrs. Bass retired from Rollins Co. in Atlanta. Arrangements are being handled by Wages Funeral Home of Snellville, GA. Tom M.
