April Bassett Holmes
April B. Holmes, 29, a native of New Kent and a resident of Richmond, departed her life Sunday, March 31, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Sherlock Van Holmes Jr.; her parents, Enoch and Gertrude Bassett of New Kent; four sisters, Karen (Spotswood) Johnson, Brenda Wright and Cheryl Allen of New Kent, and Barbara (Montey) Cotman of Charles City; mother-in-law, Ellen Holmes of New Kent; father-in-law, Sherlock V. Holmes Sr. of Henrico. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Second Elam Baptist Church, New Kent, by the Reverend Russell L. Crawley pastor. Viewing from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Forrest Funeral, West Point, Virginia, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
