Robert M. Bassett passed away at age 81 on 9 Jul 2000 at Mount Grant
Hospital in Hawthorne. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on 20 Oct 19
Robert and Ella Nugent Bassett.
Robert has lived in Hawthorne since 1985, coming from Silver Springs,
NV. He was a retired auto mechanic, retiring in 1980.
Robert was a member of American Legion Post #19 and V.F.W. Post #2313,
both of Hawthorne, Model Railroad Club of Fallon, was an avid skier,
roller skater, hiker, and ski instructor.
Robert served as a B-52 bomber pilot during WWII in the European
Theatre.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, seven daughters
and eight sons. Surviving Robert are his daughter, Roberta Barr of Hawthorne;
companion, Dorothy Peterson of Hawthorne; and grandson, Leroy Denten of
Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 17, at 10:00 a.m. at
Gunter's Funeral Home Chapel in Hawthorne. Burial will take place Monday, July
17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernly,
NV. Arrangements are under the direction of Gunter's Hawthorne Funeral Home.
