Gladys Reginia Bassett

Gladys R. Bassett, 91, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Golden Living Center - Brentwood. She was born August 25, 1921, in Henderson County, Kentucky to the late James and Ruby O'Nan. She was a homemaker and retired from DeJong's. We will miss her but we are comforted knowing she is with the Lord. Gladys's life stands as a testament to the amazing woman she was - one that loved unconditionally and selflessly as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and Christian. She lived her life with kindness, compassion and a quiet, unassuming dignity. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Bassett; and brothers, James V. O'Nan and Herschel O'Nan. She is survived by her daughter, Mindy Miller (Joe); son, James Bassett; grandchildren, Emily Miller of Seattle and Erin Miller of Evansville; brothers, Sidney O'Nan (Charlotte) and Bobby O'Nan; sisters, Nancy Fedors and Tress Key (Reeves); sisters-in-law, Dorothy O'Nan and Hattie O'Nan; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center - Brentwood, especially Sarah Johnson and the Alzheimer's Unit, as well as AseraCare Hospice staff Veltri, Lisa and Jamie for the compassionate care they provided Gladys. Services will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Reverend Mitch Gieselman, with private burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
