Thomas Bassett[1]
1795 - Yes, date unknown-
Name Thomas Bassett Born 1795 Middleton, Warwickshire Christened 27 Dec 1795 Lea Marston, Warwickshire [2] Gender Male Died Yes, date unknown Notes - In 1841 Thomas and his three youngest children (not 12-year-old Thomas) were living in Moxhull, Wishaw (We believe this area to be where the Belfry now stands.) There is no wife. He was working as a bricklayer.
The son, Thomas, was living in Lea Marston in the household of Hannah Foden (70), with Eliza Foden (20) and Emma Gilbert (19).
(There is another Bassett on the same page - Frances a 15-year-old girl - could this be an older daughter? - yes confirmed by Parish Records)
In 1851 Thomas is now living in Ryefield Lane, Wishaw, and is still working as a bricklayer. Ann is still there aged 16 (listed as Housekeeper) and Thomas has returned, now aged 23 and working as a journeyman shoemaker. The census states that both of the children were born in Wishaw.
We can now conclude that the family lived in Nether Whitacre as most of the children were baptised there. Maybe Thomas moved to Wishaw after his wife died between 1835 and 1841.
