      China Grove Man Takes Own Life

      CHINA GROVE, Jan. 9. ? William Thurman Bass, 41, of the China Grove mill village, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a shotgun Tuesday evening. It was the first suicide of the year in Rowan county.
      Dr. T.W. Seay, Rowan county coroner, pronounced the death a case of suicide following his investigation last night. A note was found, saying he was committed the act due to bad health.
      Funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at South China Grove Methodist church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
