Betty Ruth Bass
September 13, 1935 ? June 27, 2017
Cochran ? Betty Ruth Bass, age 81, at 3:30 P.M., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, after a long ten month battle with cancer, is now a survivor. Jesus took her hand and lead her to the promise land surrounded by her family at home. She is now completely whole again and in paradise. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at Union Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Betty was born September 13, 1935 to Arthur and Irene Yearty Warren and lived all her life in Cochran. She was the wife of the late James Moses Bass, Sr., the love of her life, whom she married on June 10, 1951. She worked 35 years at L&H Shirt Factory until it closed and then 15 years at Jac-Arts Label Factory and retired to take care of her mother. She was the second longest member of Union Hill Baptist Church for over 60 years where she cheerfully served her Jesus, was a choir member and raised her children.
She is survived by her children James M. Bass, Jr. (Glenda), William Earl Bass (Debra), Donald Ray Bass (Pam) and Teresa Bass Anderson (Terrell Wammock) of Cochran; her grandchildren, James Heath Bass (Monica), Heather Bass Nowell (Alan), Kristen Bass Sims (Charlie), Christopher Bass, Michelle Rena Dowdy (Toby), Jasey Roberts, Christopher Ryals (Amy), Dalton Wammock, Todd Dupree(Shana), Angie Rustin(Ben) and Brandy Mullis(Rusty); her great-grandchildren, Hudson Bass, Halle Bass, Cate Sims, Christa Grace Sims, Colt Sims, Jake Nowell, Caleb Nowell, Kinsley Nowell, Ty Dowdy, Zoey Ryals, Miley Wilkerson, Chase Jones, Tyler Raley, Kaden Dupree, Ashlynd Jolly, Cody Jolly; several nieces and nephews.
The family is at 148 Alvin Purser Road and will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. until time for the service Friday at Union Hill Baptist Church.
