Sally Flerchinger
LTC Sally Ann (Bassett) Flerchinger was born May 8, 1948 to Duane and Betty (Zeunert) Bassett in Port Washington, Wisconsin.
Sally was a woman of God and led many Christian Bible studies. She was never more alive than when teaching women the Word of God, helping them to follow Jesus. As she taught them her own walk with Jesus deepened and the words of Ruth Graham Lotz became her motto to live by, "Just Give Me Jesus".
Sally began her 21 year Army career serving as a nurse in Vietnam. Later in her career, while stationed in Germany, she used days off to tour Europe. Sally retired upon completing her second tour at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. In retirement she worked as an outpatient infusion nurse.
Sally's artistic nature was fed by her hobbies. She sold and gave away many of the projects created with her scroll saw. She loved being surrounded by vibrant colors as evidenced by her many pictures colored with gel pens and later with her newest art projects using diamond painting. Marvin kept the house and yard surrounded with flowers always providing her with the color she craved.
In 1993, Sally met the love of her life, Marvin Flerchinger, at Parkland First Baptist Church where they were married. They had a passion for the great outdoors and loved to travel, go camping, hiking, fishing and eagle watching.
Sally had a need for speed. She loved her motorcycle and convertibles, reveling in the wind blowing through her hair. Even after she could no longer drive, she would dial her scooter to the max, look over her shoulder with a grin and say "Can't you keep up?"
Sally is survived by her husband Marvin Flerchinger, her sisters, Bonnie, Mary Ann, Polly and Peggy, her brothers, Steve and James as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kathryn.
