Traci Lynn Bass (Kraayenbrink), 45, of Castlewood, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood, SD. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood with luncheon to follow. The Interment Service will take place at 1:30 pm on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hayti, SD. Pastor Tom Christenson will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Traver Hansmann, Carson Hansmann, Scott Rixe, Jon Anderson, Charlie Anderson, & Zach Wilhelmi. Honorary pallbearers will be Brody's football, basketball, track, & baseball teammates and Derek Love-Kraayenbrink.
Traci was born on December 4, 1979, in Watertown, SD to Richard and Wanda (Teberg) Kraayenbrink. She grew up in Hayti and graduated from Hamlin High School in 1998 and went to Northern State University, in Aberdeen, SD. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in special education with a minor in Spanish.
On October 14, 2006, Traci married Jerrod Bass of Castlewood, SD and had a son, Brody Lewis, January 25, 2008. Brody was her everything. So much so, she quit teaching and opened a daycare so she could stay home to be able to spend more time with him. Traci loved children and treated all of them like her own.
Traci gave much of herself to those she loved, providing love, care, and support. We can't forget the great treats she used to make for everyone. She had a loud and boisterous personality (especially at Brody's sports events!) She had an impact on everyone she met.
Traci was preceded in death by her mom (Wanda) and both sets of her grandparents. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son Brody of Castlewood, Father Rick Kraayenbrink of Hayti, her sister Kari Kraayenbrink, her brother Eric (Danielle) Kraayenbrink, her nephews, Traver, Carson, & Derek. Brody's dad, Jerrod Bass, and his family, Craig & Roxanne Bass, Brent Bass & family, Theresa Fischer & family.
