Patricia Ann Bass Christenberry
Patricia Ann Bass Christenberry passed peacefully into the presence of God on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
Pat was born, with a beautiful eyes and the innate ability to spread a blanket of love around everyone at every occasion, in McRae, Georgia, on May 7, 1948. She was welcomed by her parents, Donald T. Bass and Frances Lorene Beasley Bass, both deceased.
Pat was "Big Sis" to four younger sisters, an athletic tomboy, while still being a "Miss Goody-Two-Shoes." As a teen, Pat loved nice clothes and jewelry and was willing to earn these items with hard work.
Pat earned a scholarship to Mercer University's Nursing Program, and went on to work at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta. It was there an older surgeon urged a younger intern to ask out the scrub nurse with the "bedroom eyes." Eight months later, Pat married this intern, from Knoxville. This partnership of helpmates lasted over fifty-two years, producing two devoted daughters and six grandchildren of deep faith and strong character.
Pat will be remembered as an individual of strength, intelligence, and immense grace. Her emotional intuition, uncanny judge of character, loyalty, along with a modest background, drew people to her. She knew the life stories of many strangers because she really listened and really cared.
To be loved by Pat Christenberry, was to be loved fiercely. You never stood alone.
Pat is left to be emulated, loved, and missed by her partner and husband, Ken W. Christenberry, MD; Her two, very blessed daughters, who "are not a comedy act" though they beg to differ, Meredith (Pat's buddy, Brad) Kuester, and Allison "Paige" Moncier; Her "Little Sis's" Brenda (Bill) Smith of Martin, Georgia, Donna (Everett) Hemphill of Byron, GA, and Dianne (Mike) Greene of Byron, GA, as well as Gwen (Sam) Stafford, who preceded her in death; Her much adored grandchildren, Brady, Graham, and Mac Kuester and William McHenry, Khaki and Jed Moncier, who loved their CC and always give them a soft place to land; As well as a long and diverse army of real friends, who have wrapped us all in a blanket of love and prayers. We have felt every one.
Our prayer to all, who read this, will have a gift and being loved by such a strong, heroic, devoted person in their lifetime, as we were.
Services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, 3:30pm, in the chapel at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church Sanctuary, with receiving a friend to follow immediately and Barron Hall.
