Mrs. Marguerite Bassett Dies in Utica Monday
Mrs. Marguerite N. Bassett, 63, Forestport, died Monday morning in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica, following a long illness.
She was the wife of Clarence Bassett and lived on Division Street.
Funeral was this Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport. The Reverend Daniel Heintz, pastor, officiated. Pallbearers were Howard James, Arthur Jones, Walter Bellinger, Edward Sears, George Bassett, and Paul Rose.
She was born in New York City, May 27, 1907, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Maffey, and went to Forestport at an early age to live with an aunt, Mrs. Louis Rose. She attended the Forestport school.
She was married twice. Her first husband, Walter Lennon, died many years ago. She and Mr. Bassett were married Dec. 31, 1946, in Remsen, She was employed by the Rom Specialty Company in Forestport until poor health forced her to retired.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.
Surviving are her husband; one son Walter Lennon, Oriskany; three grandchildren, and the aunt, Mrs. Rose, who resides in Florida.
