Irene G. Pellegrino, 84
WELLFLEET —
Irene G. (Bassett) Pellegrino, 84, of Wellfleet, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Cape Cod Hospital in
Hyannis.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Pellegrino Sr. They would have been married 66 years on Dec.
12.
Mrs. Pellegrino was born on Nov. 4, 1924, in Wellfleet. Besides being a homemaker, she loved knitting,
crocheting, bird watching, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She donated many of her crafts to the
Harwich and Wellfleet Methodist Churches. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in
Wellfleet. She loved and cherished family.
Besides her beloved husband, she leaves three sons, Thomas J. Pellegrino of Wellfleet, Joseph A.
Pellegrino Jr. of Marlboro, and Norman A. Pellegrino of Wellfleet; a daughter, Marie E. Pellegrino of
Wellfleet; a brother, Lawrence Bassett of Fall River; four grandchildren, Kevin J. Pellegrino, Thomas C.
Pellegrino, Tina M. Higgins and Jason D. Higgins; one great-granddaughter, Kailey Pellegrino; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 340 Main
St., Wellfleet. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the United Methodist
Church in Wellfleet, Main Street, Wellfleet. Burial follows in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wellfleet.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Wellfleet Fire and Rescue, 35 Lawrence Road,
Wellfleet, MA 02667.
