Thomas E. Bassett of Kentwood, Michigan, age 76, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020. He was born to Charles and Evelyn (McCune) Bassett on December 7, 1943.
Tom was the youngest of two children. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Rogers High School in 1962. Tom had a long career as a inside salesman for conveyor belting products. Tom loved to spend time with his children and grand children by attending their sporting events, hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved to tease his family; he had a great sense of humor. His hobbies included collecting coins, stamps, and Emmett Kelly Jr. clown figurines. He also enjoyed driving his 75 Corvette and listening to old time classic radio shows on XM radio.
Tom is survived by his loving children Tom (Malinda), Chuck (Kristine), and grandchildren; Tommy, Brent, Michael, Alex, and Matthew. He was proceeded in death by his wife Tamra, brother Guy, and his father and mother.
There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508. The funeral service for Tom will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Ofield Funeral Home. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. The family is attending the burial at 3:00 p.m. at Rosedale Memorial Park, 50 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49534; everyone is welcome.
