Bessie M. Bass

Mrs. Bessie Mills Bass, of 730 W. Harrison St., Reidsville, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Palliative Care Unit of Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 P.M. at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Roy Dennis, Jr. serving as Eulogist. Visitation will begin thirty minutes prior to the service. The burial will be held at the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Bass, the daughter of the late John Mills and Jennie Sue Mills was born on July 23, 1923 in Pelham, North Carolina. She was a devoted member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess.
Preceding her in death were her six sisters and brother: Mabel Blackstock, Cora Mills, Minnie Blackstock, Nannie Palmer, Daisy Chestnut, Sadie Brown, and Reverend Walter Mills.
Her love, generosity, and hospitality will be missed by her husband of sixty-two years, William M. Bass, of the home; daughters Laverne Bass of Greensboro, NC and Gaynelle Nichols (Harold) of Gibsonville, NC; sister Ludella Williams of Ruffin, NC; grandchildren Nichole Nichols of Atlanta, GA, Brittany Nichols of Chapel Hill, NC, and Garland Nichols of Gibsonville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
