Bernice Hamilton Bassett
Bernice "B.B." Hamilton Bassett died June 5, 2007, at Marin General Hospital
of a stroke. She was 86.
Born in Flint, Michigan, Mrs. Bassett grew up in Indiana. Her family owned
Hamilton Manufacturing Company.
She met her husband Kirk through mutual friends during World War II when he
was going through special training at Purdue University. They fell in love at
first sight, he said, and were married in 1949. They moved to Belvedere in
1960. She was a homemaker and business partner with her husband in Bi
Hound boutique on Main Street (now occupied by Waters Edge Inn) until they
retired in the 1990s. (The other owner was Bennett Wren.)
The Bassett played golf together and were members of the Tiburon Recreation
Center (now Tiburon Peninsula Club).
Mrs. Bassett is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kirk Bassett of
Belvedere; three sons, Quentin H. Bassett of Manteca, and Brice H. and Mark O.
Bassett, both of Eugene, Oregon; eight grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren.
Services have been held.
