He was born on November 16, 1935 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Dorsey Bassett and Selene White Bassett. Mr. Bassett loved his family dearly. He was a United States Army Korean War veteran. Mr. Bassett enjoyed spending time on Lake Martin, eating and cookouts, the simple things in life, and spending time with his dog, Bandit. He is survived by his daughters, Cindi Todd and Cynthia J. White (Steven); son, Joseph D. Garner; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Jo A. Bassett; daughter, Tracy Garner; son, Mark Carver; grandson, Joey Garner Jr.; and parents, Selene Blackerby and Dorsey Bassett.
