      Capt. Lowell Bassett

      News has been received of the death in Mobile Friday of Captain Lowell Whittier Bassett, Untied States army, a brother of Chester E. Bassett, of Charleston. Funeral services were held Monday in the United States national cemetery.
      Captain Bassett, a native of Indianapolis, served as a lieutenant during the World war. On his return to the Unites States he was transferred to the field artillery. After special courses in law he received the degrees of A.B., LL B., LL M., M.P.L. and S.J.D., and was transferred to the judge advocate general?s department where he served until his retirement a year ago.
      Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Octavia Adelaide Revere Bassett; a son, L. Reeve Bassett; two brothers, Mr. Bassett, of Charleston, and Earl C. Bassett, of Mobile, and two sisters, Mrs. Helen B. Clark, of Washington, and Mrs. Wallace Shilling, of Indianapolis.

      Brother of Charlestonian Passes Away in Mobile

      News has been received here of the death on Friday, May 26, in Mobile, Ala., of Capt. Lowell Whittier Bassett, U.S.A. Captain Bassett, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., was a brother of Chester E. Bassett, of Charleston.
      Captain Bassett served as a lieutenant during the World war. Upon his return from overseas he was transferred to the field artillery of the United States army. After special courses in law he obtained the degrees of A.B., LL.B., LL.M., M.P.L, and S.J.D., and was then transferred to the judge advocate general?s department, where he served until his retirement a year ago.
      He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Octavia Adelaide Revere Bassett; a son, L. Revere Bassett, both of Mobile; two brothers, Mr. Bassett, of Charleston, and Earl C. Bassett, of Mobile, two sisters, Mrs. Helen B. Clark, of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Wallace shilling, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Heustis King, of Mobile, and other relatives.
      Interment was in the United States national cemetery, following funeral services Monday.
