Gary Arthur Bessette (1962 ? 2017) (Picture included)
Gary Arthur Bessette, 55, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, in Circle.
He was born Feb. 18, 1962, in Fairbanks, to Margaret Bessette. He was later adopted by George Bessette.
Gary will be remembered for his quick wit and constant sense of humor. He was always ready with a smile and joke and an easy-going attitude. His family will lovingly remember him by his nicknames of Bum and Uncle Wee Wee. Gary loved meeting people who traveled to Circle and on the Yukon River from all parts of the world. Gary volunteered for the Yukon Quest, and made many lasting memories for all who met him.
A true free spirit, he gave everything and wanted nothing in return. He was always willing to lend a hand to whomever may need help.
You will be missed, but we will always carry you in our hearts. My big brother, I love you. Until that time we will see you again around the camp fire, happy hunting grounds, my brother. Circle will truly miss your presence.
Gary taught many of his nieces and nephews his favorite song: "G is for Gary, Gary is Great, Gary is the uncle we do not hate! Hip Hop, what do we say?! We just sat down and wrote a new play!! Everyone's favorite Uncle."
Gary is survived by his mother, Margaret; aunt, Irene Roberts; uncles, Larry, Sam, Paulie Nathaniel; sisters and brothers, Sue Marsh and Bridget Hardy, Aurora Wilber, Dan and Sheri Bessette, Clifford and Patricia Bessette, Richard Bessette, Ruth Bessette, Jubal and Lucy Tate, Mary Nathaniel and family, of Chalkyitsik; daughters, Glinda, Mary, Maggie and son, Jesse; our grandsons, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great- nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his dad, George Bessette; grandparents, Sandy and Lucy Roberts; aunts, Ruth Kelly, Bertha Roberts and Frances John; and uncles, Arthur and Neil Roberts.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in grandma Lucy's yard in Circle, weather permitting, with burial and potlach to follow. Services will be officiated by Mary Nathaniel.
