Jesse H. Bassett, 310 E. Ensey, lifelong resident of Tuscola, died at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, February 1st in Jarman hospital where he had been a patient since December 3.
Services were held Monday at ?:30 p.m. at Waddington Funeral Home with Rev. John N. Jones, pastor of the United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in the Tuscola cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd Miller, Dean Hilligoss, Eugene Miller, Bruce Williams, Homer Carroll and Richard Lamb.
Mr. Bassett was born March 7, 1893 in Tuscola, the son of Frank C. and Mary Etta Duvall Bassett. He married Jessie May Smith of Tuscola; she died April 23, 1962.
Mr. Bassett retired about six years ago. He had been for some time a bookkeeper for the Floyd Miller Auto Agency in Tuscola, and had previously operated restaurants on U.S. 45 and in Camargo.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Etta Belle Entrician of Paris; two sons, Charles, Tuscola, and Gene, Camargo; one brother, Ralph, Tuscola; and 10 grandchildren.
EUGENE BASSETT

Eugene J. Bassett, 66, Camargo, died at 1:56 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Burnham Hospital, Champaign.
Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Waddington Funeral Home, Tuscola, the Rev. K. Belmont Metzger officiating. Burial was in Tuscola Cemetery.
Mr. Bassett was born Sept. 16, 1913 in Tuscola, a son of Jesse and Jessie Smith Bassett. He married Opal Strode April 4, 1966, in Metropolis. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Philip (Kay) Derby of Morris, Mrs. Tom (Betty) Hancock of Villa Grove, and Mrs. Willie (Lydia) Turner of Tuscola; three sons, Larry Bassett of Sullivan, Charles Strode of Pesotum and Jim Strode of Camargo; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; one brother Charles Bassett of Villa Grove; one sister Etta Belle Hardy of Paris.
Mr. Bassett was a mechanic and welder in a general repair business in Camargo.
