Mary Lear Bassett (1921 ? 2018) (Picture included)
Tallahassee - Mary Lear Bassett, 97, passed away on July 6, 2018 in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was born to Mary Tollinger Lear and Charles Lear in Camden, New Jersey in 1921.
Mary and her husband, Richard, raised their children in Florence, NJ where they lived for many years. They moved to Florida in 1976 and spent many happy years playing golf, making lots of friends, and enjoying the Florida weather. They moved to Tallahassee 15 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard. They were married for 73 wonderful years. She is survived by son Richard M. Bassett, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Feasterville, PA, their 2 children and 3 grandchildren, and daughter Susan B. Conklin of Tallahassee and her husband, Warren Conklin and their 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
We were so blessed to have had her with us for such a long time. She was "Mom-Mom" or "Grandmom" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left an indelible mark on this family. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing all kinds of crafts and singing in her church choir. We are at peace knowing she is with the Lord and with Richard, the love of her life.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful care she received at Seven Hills, Capital Regional Medical Center, and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, all of whom took wonderful care of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. No services are planned at this time in keeping with her wishes.
