William (Bill) Summerfield Bassett Jr. May 10, 1944 - Aug 29 2011 Age 67, resident of Tracy CA. Bill was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam War and retired from a career in auto sales after 35 years in 2009. Bill was always known for his humor, a man that never looked on the dark side of life without a laugh along the way. An outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, he was proud of his achievement as an Eagle Scout. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family he also enjoyed collecting and compiling historical information. Bill was never a man who wanted notoriety or fame, but he will always be known as a great husband, a wonderful dad, a caring papa and an all-around good guy. He is survived by his wife Ann Bassett of 27 years children Joshua M. Thomas Tracy CA, Christopher C. Thomas, wife Valerie Roseville CA, Jessica A. Bassett Markiel, husband John Citrus Heights CA, Amy S. Bassett Sacramento CA and grandchildren Trenton Thomas, Brody Thomas, Kinley Thomas and Kennedy Markiel, Brothers Conrad Bassett, Donald Dobbs and sister Sue Terrill Proceeded in death By Father William S Bassett Sr., Mother Ruth I Thompson, Brother Kenneth Bassett. Services will be private.
