Bassett Sr., 74, of Jeffersonton, VA, formerly of Bloomfield, died (April 30, 1998) in Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton, VA. He was born in Seymour on Dec. 14, 1923 son of the late Sidney S. and Bessie (Myers) Bassett. He was a retiree of KAMAN Aerospace and was a Chairman of the Board at the KAMAN Aerospace Credit Union. Robert had served as a Deacon at the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield and was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Besides his wife, Jean W. Bassett of Jeffersonton, VA, he is survived by two sons, Robert L. Bassett Jr. of Oakton, VA and Scott Bassett of Jeffersonton, VA; a daughter, Carole Rainey of Holidaysburg, PA; two sisters, Evelyn Horton and Eleanor Dorman, both of Florida; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be at Warrenton United Methodist Church, Monday (May 4) at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fauquier Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 3189, Warrenton, VA 20188. The Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, VA has charge of arrangements.
