Mr. Bassett was born on March 4, 1948 in LaGrange to Jack Bassett and Vonceil Folds Powell. His father preceded him in death as well as a brother, Jimmy Bassett. Mr. Bassett proudly served his country in the United States Navy followed by many years at Tredegar as a Machinist. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Erlene Berry Bassett; mother, Vonceil Folds Powell; children, Renee Bassett and Craig Bassett; grandchildren, Brandon Bassett, MaKayla Bassett; Kristen Phay (William) and Hunter Bassett; great grandchildren, Liam Phay and Carter Phay; extended family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the Shadowlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00 pm.
