Lena B. Bass
VIRGINIA BEACH - Lena Baker Bass of the 1000 block of Dulcie passed quietly and peacefully into eternal rest Friday, July 26, 2002, at her residence.
She was a native of Williamsburg, Va., and the daughter of the late William and Clara Byrd Baker. She was the widow of Southall Bass III.
Mrs. Bass was a retired educator from the Norfolk public school system having taught at Tucker Elementary School and retiring from Norview Elementary School. She was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Women and St. Monica's Guild of the Church. She was a graduate of Virginia State College, now University, and a member of the L&J Gardens Civic League.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Kenneth E. Bass Sr.; a grandson, Kenneth E. Bass Jr.; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church, 1400 E. Brambleton Ave., with the Rev. Father Harold J. Cobb, D.D., officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the residence. Riddick Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
