He was a 1943 graduate of Tuskegee Institute. He furthered his studes at Cornell University School of Hotels and Restuarants Management. He was the Food Service manager of Tuskegee Institute from 1948 until he retired in 1972. He was on leave from this position from 1963 to 1965 to develop a food Service Program in Liberia W. Africa. He was a member of the National Restaurant Association; and was honored by this association in 1972. Mr. Bass was the first black to serve as a State Representative in Alabama of the War Manpower Commission from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Bass of 948 Brunswick Lane, Rockledge, Florida departed this life Sunday, August 15, 1982 at Adare Medical Center, Rockledge, Fla. Funeral Service For Mr. Bass was held in Birmingham, Alabama at Wlmwood Cemetery on Wed. Aug. 18, 1982. He is survived by two sisters; Rebecca O. Bass of Deltona, FL and Ann Pierce of New Paultz, NY.
