Barbara Fields Bassett
August 4, 1948 - February 5, 2026
Barbara Elaine Fields Bassett, 77, of Bluefield, VA, departed this life for her eternal home Thursday, February 05, 2026. Born in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Eulice Grant Fields and Bessie May Roaten Fields. She was a graduate of Graham High School, class of 1966. She worked as a secretary at the Church of God in Bluefield, VA for 9 years. She then moved to Rochester, NY and worked at Eastman Kodak Company where she retired. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Bassett.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, James C. Bassett of Tazewell, VA; her sons: Terry Bassett and wife, Lea of Springville, VA and Aaron Bassett of Bluefield, VA; her sister: Vickie Sutliff and husband, Rob of Bedford, VA; a niece: Amanda and husband, Bobby of Bedford, VA; 3 grandchildren: Alexis, Logan and Audra Bassett all of Rochester, NY.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held Friday, February 13, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Pennington and Captain Jerry Lester officiating. Her cremains will be buried at Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
