He was born Oct. 27, 1943, in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., to the late Carroll E. and Adelaide A. Bass. George was a fun-loving man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Donna Bass, Sarah Phillips (Mike) of Newport News and Tanya Hall (Lacy) of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Carolyn Cornelius of Chesapeake, Mary Long (James) of Virginia Beach, Beaulah J. Riggs (Vance) of Norfolk and Barbara Insko (Rosco) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one brother, Dale Bass of Norfolk; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach by the Rev. Bob Austin. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
