Billy Gene Bass
Billy Gene Bass, 86, was granted eternal rest on Friday, October 28 2022. Billy was born in Wayne County on March 8, 1936 to the late Edward and Pearl Ferrell Bass. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Bass Weaver; sister, Velma Gurley; and brothers, Dewey Bass and J.D. Bass.
Working a full career at Burlington Industries, Billy retired from the textile industry and later began working in the catering business with Wilber's Barbecue. He attended Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
With a tremendous love for his family, Billy took great pride in his titles of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Always even-tempered, everyone who met Billy instantly liked him. Never one to get mad, he had a smile on his face and many kind words to offer. Strangers quickly became friends as Billy could strike up a conversation with anyone.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 1:00 ? 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Billy's life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Mark Whitfield officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont, NC.
Billy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Juanita Forehand Bass; son, Bill Bass, Jr. and wife Dara of Kinston; grandchildren, Alex Weaver (Schylar), Summer Weaver (Mort), Joshua Bass (Ashlyn) and Spencer Bass (Rachel); and great-grandchildren, Ali Jade Weaver and Calvin Fuller. He is also survived by his sister, Oddie Howell of Fremont.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church at 336 Nahunta Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
