Death came to Mrs. Lewis Bassett, 37, north Sixth st., Friday morning at 1:30 after a lingering illness of more than a year from cancer. Mrs. Bassett was operated on at the City Hospital Wednesday by Dr. J.F. Baldwin, Columbus.
Ida Bell Baker was born and raised in Plainfield and was united in marriage to Lewis Bassett of that vicinity nineteen years ago. Sixteen years ago she with her husband moved to this city where she resided until the time of her death.
Mrs. Bassett was of a kindly, sweet disposition which endeared her to the many friends who mourn her untimely death.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Carl, 16 years of age, one daughter, Linna Bell, aged four months, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Christie Allen, Canas, Washington; Louis Baker, Lake City, Iowa; J.R. Baker, Newcomerstown; Benjamin Baker, Columbus, and one half brother, George Newell, Nebraska.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
