David Brainard Bassett
Memorial service for David Brainard Bassett, who died of leukemia Wednesday in his Northeast Portland home, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church in Portland.
A native of Portland, Mr. Bassett was 34. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 1970, then attended Mt. Hood Community College for about a year. He began working for Bellair Inc. as a driver and salesman in about 1973, and he continued to work there until his death. He had battled leukemia for seven years.
Mr. Bassett was a member of Teamsters Local 162, and enjoyed water skiing.
Surviving are his wife, Toni of Portland, a son, Wade, and a daughter, Jennifer, both of Portland; his parents, Elaine and Kenneth Bassett of Portland; and two sisters, Patricia Graber of Vancouver, Wash. and Nancy Jacobs of Portland.
The family suggests remembrances many be contributions to the American Cancer Society or Oregon Health Sciences University for medical research in leukemia.
The body was cremated,, and his ashes will be placed at Pelton Dam Rservoir near Warm Springs, where he often went water skiing.
