Phelps-Bassett
Large baskets of flowers and ferns enhanced the beauty of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Phelps last Saturday evening, oct. 8, for the wedding of their youngest daughter Miss Leona Phelps and Mr. William Bassett, of Millington, who were united in marriage by Rev. D.C. Stubbs.
As the bridal party entered the room at 8 o?clock the wedding march was played by Mrs. D.C. Stubbs.
Miss Phelps presented a charming appearance, her gown was of pink taffeta and she wore a lace veil and cap trimmed with orange blossoms. She carried a boquet of pink roses.
Miss Alice Bassett, sister of the groom, who acted as the bridesmaid was dressed in pink crepe de chine. Mary Ann Van Wagoner, niece of the groom, dressed in a pink georgette, carried the ring on a pillow. Katherine Phelps and Jean Hall nieces of the bride, dressed in pink crepe de chine carried baskets of flowers and acted as flower girls. Howard Rockentime, of Millingtonn, a friend of the bridesmaid, Miss Bassett, assisted Mr. Bassett as best man.
Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served in the dining room, where the tables were prettily decorated with flowers and candles.
Miss Phelps is a graduate of the Mayville Public Schools and has been employed at the Commercial Bank for the past two years.
Mr. Bassett is a prominent young farmer and both young people are very popular among their many associates.
The out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paley and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Phelps and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Phelps, of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. J.I. Pelton of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. James Van Wagoner and family of Flint, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hall and family of Barryton, Mr. and Mrs. George Evans and family of Millington, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Pickell and family of Big Rapids.
